G1 Soundwave- could he be turned into an MP3 player?

btw, anyone who knows the size of one of his cassettes I'd love to know so I can see if they make any mp3 players roughly that size

It's definitely possible, just a matter of finding a small enough player. An Ipod would be too big.

biggest problem I face right now is being able to afford a G1 Soundwave and an MP3 player

i've also seen some flash-drive/jump-drive looking mp3 players which could work. biggest thiing is going be having the ability to control the mp3 player with it inside the transformer and being able to access the headphone jack.

oh yeah, I'd want to keep it transformable

I don't remember the Soundwave I used to have, but didn't it have buttons on it that were pushable?

Maybe create a spring mechanizm that you can push the button lighly, and tap the buttons on the MP3 that way.

But yea...cost is a definite factor

Ever hear of a company called Kabaya?

They've been producing knock-off TFs for quite some time, and from what I understand they're fairly common in parts of Japan. You should be able to find a Kabaya Soundwave or at least a Kabaya Blaster for a lot cheaper than you would be paying for a vintage figure.

In addition, since Kabaya figures are often molded from only one color of plastic, then you can paint him up however you please.

Just keep in mind that Kabaya figures are often smaller than their legitimate counterparts. If you spot one, ask the seller for its measurements in tape deck mode.

thanks. I found that the tapes are larger, so I'll find out about soundwave. If he is smaller, there is no way to fit a mp3 player in the tape slot. I'm having a tough enough time finding a suitable mp3 that will fit in an original soundwave (with the display and buttons on the same face).
