It's been a long time since the last update, and a lot has been going on around here to take me away from dio-making. I am between storms right now, so I was able to put the finishing touches on the picture I took so long ago.
I originally intended for the Whispers of War story arc to be told in five parts, but part five sort of ballooned into a massive, 30+ page story. While the first part was 30+ pages, it was mostly action. This was going to be a LOT of exposition. So mush so, that I was afraid of boring the reader with so much information all at once. So, I broke the fifth part into two parts and went from there. This chapter is heavy on dialogue and light on the action as it sets the stage for an all out war in chapter six!
What's taken me so long? Well here are some excuses:
A lot of you may remember my absence from the board about a year ago when my wife and I were going through some tough times. I won't rehash that here, but we are perservering. A few months after that, some pain I was having in my hip finally got the best of me and I insisted that my doctor do something about. When the specialist looked at it, he found that my hip had been dislocated for over two years! In January, he operated, and found that my entire hip joint was filled with tumors. Thankfully, they were all benign, but I apparently have a condition in which I develop tumors in my joints. Since they know to look for them, they have since discovered tumors in my left wrist, my left shoulder, and both of my elbows. Now, I am scheduled for a series of surgeries to remove them all.
On a lighter note, I made some interesting discoveries in making this dio.
- If you are going to use a smoke machine indoors, unhook the smoke alarms. If you forget this and the alarm goes off anyway, hide your dio stuff before the fire department arrives. They seem to frown on false alarms based on "grown men playing with toys."
- After the fire department leaves and you leave the front door open to clear out the smoke, keep an eye on the cat. ESPECIALLY if your cat is not spayed or neutered (Thankfully, mine is.) You never know if your poor innocent house cat will be defiled by an evil alley cat.
- It is a very bad idea to play with Mag Warriors while messing with a hard drive platter. You would think that someone who is about to take comprehensive exams for a Master's degree in Computer Science would know this. You would think.
Anyway, on to the dio!
