I feel...

Ginger, the dog, is getting to be around 11. She has canine cognitive disfunction. And she's starting to have difficulty getting up. I feel death is coming closer.

That's a hard thing to watch. A friend of mine thought his dog was near death and found a pound pup for a replacement. That was 4 years ago and Minnie is still kicking. However, she is very irritable and really doesn't like anyone, so it's still not a good situation.

I started up the hill with her today. She loves checking the mail - I think that's part of what is keeping her going. Today, she was walking slow. I noticed she was limping a little on the one leg. I stopped part-way up the hill, and she turned around to head back down. I picked her up and carried her back to the house. It was a long trip back up the hill to get the mail by myself.

I gave her a piece of cheese anyway when I got back, and she wouldn't eat it. That is not like her. I just gave her a piece of bread I was eating, and she ate part of it, and spit the rest out.

I don't think it will be much longer.

Dang, that's tough to deal with, and even harder to watch I'm sure.

She had been about 70 pounds, but is probably around 60 now.

We went very slow up to get the mail today. She always carries something back (Golden Retriever), and gets a piece of cheese. Today, she did eat the piece of cheese.

It is hard to leave, not knowing if it will be the last time...

Hoping this "disturbance in the force" thing at 2:30am is nothing...

It was nothing.

I feel in my heart that she will be like Patches and go to sleep and not wake up. I pray that it's peaceful - ready for whatever.

It is supposed to be Friday at 1:10pm

On a side note, Stumpy the cat seems to have recovered (so far) from almost dieing from unknown causes Wednesday morning.

Ginger was buried last Friday. I held her in the car while the vet did the injection. He missed the vein the first time, and I had to restrain her for the second time. Then she went limp and collapsed in my arms on my lap.

I miss Ginger.

Stumpy is still kicking...

Shingles had cleared up, except for pain now and then.

Found out yesterday a friend is possibly dying of unknown causes.

One of the older men at church had a stroke during the closing song and is in rehab right now.

Other than that..........

Dang dude.

Glad to see that Ginger isn't suffering. We had the vet come to the house for our old Beagle. I'm really glad I was there when he went to sleep.
