Round 2

We want to seek God with our whole hearts, bodies, and souls, so we're going to seek Him 6 weeks at a time.

Round 2

Postby Matthew on Tue Nov 06, 2007 11:32 am

I am more than excited to give this another goal after my first 6 weeks. I read 2 books, which is 2 more books than I have ever read by my own decision :D. Here are my tentative plans for the next 6 weeks. I'll probably start tommorrow or Thursday depending on when I get "Blue Like Jazz."

Here is my tentative for Round 2

Physically
Do excercise at least 5 days
MWF- push-ups & sit-ups/crunches
TR- chair dips & lunges
I'll probably try to do various stretches each day that I work out

Spiritually
Read 7 pages of "Blue Like Jazz"
Read at least one Chapter of the Bible per day
Get up at 6:30 to do quiet time (no TV or internet before I get to work)
Be a better spiritual leader (pray and study more with Leslie)

Other
Read 7 pages of "The Hobbit"*
Go to bed no later than 11:00

This is more ambitious, but I think I am up for it. I can't seek God comfortably. When I start to take it easy and "cruise" that is when problems happen. My pastor said last Sunday that "we can't cruise up hill."

Not sure if this will mean anything to you, but....

"Thumbs up? Alright boys, let's do this! Leeroy Jenkins!"

It's all I could think of cause I'm pumped about this.

Everytime I watch that Leroy clip I laugh myself silly. So now I have a picture in my mind of Matt yelling Leroy really loud and running full charge leading a bunch of people. haha

Blue Like Jazz? Hmmm... I've heard interesting (mostly bad) things about it. You'll have to tell us about it.

What Bible book are you reading through?
Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, "Whom shall I send and who will go before us?"
Then said I, "Here am I, send me." Isaiah 6:8

I'd never heard of the book until Andy and a friend both recommended it too me within the span of a week. Gotta run with coincidence like that.

I'm starting with Romans, not sure where I'll go from there.

I read the book a couple of months ago and I didn't find a thing wrong with it. The guy writes about Christianity from a normal person's point of view.

I don't down on other authors, but when they write they talk about what makes them "super Christians" and all the good they've done. He talks about being human and his short comings when it comes to his relationship with God. Truly inspiring to me.

Day 4 - Sunday, November 9

Physically
none, again. I really need to get in a routine here.

Spiritually
Read 28 pages of "Blue Like Jazz"
Read Romans Chapter 5
No spiritual leader stuff

Other
Read 28 pages of "The Hobbit"
Went to bed at 10:50

I did some catch-up reading, but really lacked spiritually. Missing a couple of days of prayer and study really move me away from God and turns my focus back onto me instead of Him. I'm finally realizing that weekends really contribute to spiritual ruts

It is hard getting to bed early. :( I never seem to get enough sleep, so I feel for you.

How are you enjoying the Hobbit?
