BACK IN THE SADDLE - Andy - Round 2

Postby andrwfields on Thu Dec 27, 2007 4:41 pm

I think I'm going to make this as fresh a start as possible!

I want to start this on Tuesday, January 1, 2008.

I'm still thinking on my goals, but here is a rough guess:

Read through a book day by day. I have several on my docket: Searching for God Know's What by Donald Miller, Through Painted Deserts by Donald Miller, Velvet Elvis by Rob Miller, and Blood Covenant by Michael Franzese. I have a few others that I've dabbled in and I'd like to pick them back up, but those are the main ones.

Pray at least 2 times a day (not including meals).

Have personal/quiet time at least once a day for at least 15-30 min. I can hopefully get this done in the mornings.

Cut down the junk food and soda.

Be more organized. I'll work that one out some more.

And that's all I can think of for now...

Here are my Goals:

Read through part of a book every day.

Pray at least 2 times a day (not including meals).

Have personal/quiet time at least once a day for at least 15-30 min.

Cut down the junk food and soda.*

Cut out the swearing.*

Personal unspoken goal.*

*Something that I can't really put numbers up for, but I can give a report on how it's going.

Day 1 - Tuesday, January 1, 2008

Reading - None

Prayer - Once

Quiet Time - None

Junk Food - One soda. Good start there.

Swearing - Ehh. Work in Progress.

Personal - Better than the day before.

Amber and I have a couple of friends that came in from NC to celebrate New Year's with us. They've been snowed out of going home right now. So we're pretty much having a big, fun, never-ending New Year's celebration. Good stuff. It will be hard to get my goals done while they're here though...

Day 2 - Wednesday, January 2, 2008

Reading - None

Prayer - None

Quiet Time - None

Junk Food - Couple of sodas. Little bit of junk food.

Swearing - Not as bad, but it could be better.

Personal - Needs more work.

The party is over. Our friends are getting ready to go back as I type this. It's been a great time and Amber and I haven't had this much fun in a long time. We've bowled, played Wii, watched movies, talked for hours. It's been wonderful. But now it's time to get back to normal life and get back on track.

Prayer - Once

Quiet Time - Little bit, but not used wisely

Junk Food - Two sodas, little bit of junk food. Rationed out well though.

Crazy day for me. Worked like normal. Planned on getting off work, getting Amber's watch worked on and then picking up Madix and heading home. What really happened was that I stopped to check on Sam and his blowout, got Medical Card from Amber, went to get meds for Madix with no success, tried to find somebody to work on Amber's watch, got a bite to eat, picked up Madix and was home by 9. No worries though!

I got a lot done this weekend. Amber and I got the house clean, and dirty again. We finally took the Christmas tree down and a lot of the decorations. Oh, and I reached Pro status in bowling on Wii Sports.

Speaking of the Wii, I think I've found a way to be somewhat physically active in my busy times. I've got a friend who's lost 40 lbs by getting up and doing boxing on Wii Sports every morning for 3 months. Crazy! I'm doing a lot of the fitness training, boxing, and pretty much anything I can get my hands on. Leave it to Nintendo to do something to battle the obesity epidemic!

On a side note, I've been learning (slowly) how to play the guitar. Amber and I made a trip to Lexington yesterday just to shop around, and we really didn't have any intentions of buying anything. I went into Guitar Center while we were there and just tried a few different guitars out. I found one that I really liked (run of the mill Epiphone) and told Amber about it and said that would be the one I would buy when I actually get the money to buy one. She made me turn the truck around and go back and get it! Hehe, I got a new guitar.

So, it looks like my guitar doesn't want to work. I'm looking into the return policy of Guitar Center because I just bought it Sunday. If not, I'm going to call Epiphone and get it replaced. Either way, they're not sticking me with a dud.
