Help Sites

Postby tigerguy786 on Sat Sep 23, 2006 1:31 pm

This is a topic for us to list useful sites that can be of help to us in our walk with Christ. Whether it's a site full of Christian wisdom or a list of where to go when dealing with situations. If it can be of help to Christians then post it here for all of us to partake of.

God's Yellow Pages A list of various scripture useful when dealing with certain situations, an online quick reference guide.

Biblegateway.com- An online Bible with search feature.
Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, "Whom shall I send and who will go before us?"
Then said I, "Here am I, send me." Isaiah 6:8

here is a cool one I found. I posted it a while back, but I'll post it here. It answers tons of questions. Here is my original post from August 7.
I was looking trying to find when the Jews quit animal sacrifices and found this site

http://www.raptureready.com/faq/rap23.html

I haven't found anything on this site that I disagree with

I don't know how popular this magazine is, and I've never actually seen/purchased a copy. The website, however, is fantastic.

Prodigal Son Magazine

It's a men's christian magazine and it answers a lot of the tough questions that we guys have to ask sometimes. It also has some generally great articles to read through. I've found some great guides for devotionals and the like.

Here are the websites that I think offer some pretty good information:

http://www.christiananswers.net

http://www.gotquestions.com

http://www.carm.org

http://www.raptureready.com

http://www.answersingenesis.com

http://www.rzim.org

http://www.biblegateway.com

The first 3 (answers, questions, carm) are good jumping off points for me, as I'll remember something and forget some details or locations in the Bible and they'll give enough of a reminder to dig deeper. They also have some good views and articles on things too that I've found helpful.

Rapture ready has some interesting stuff and links from the prophecy perspective. As I believe in an immenent rapture and that Revelations is just as relevant now as it was when written, I've found some good info there too. I like the news section and a lot of the articles. There's even a section for death-bed testomonials which is both encouraging and chilling.

Answers in Genesis is for creationists, and offers a counter-view to evolution. Great information and research, some at a very high level. It might not get you to change your mind, but it might make you look harder at what is being touted as factual scientific information in support of evolution.

Rzim is something I've found recently by listening to quick 15 minute discussions on the radio on my way to work. The radio program is great (haven't tried to download it yet though) and the articles/papers are fantastic.

Biblegateway is my 'goto' online Bible. What I like best is being able to have multiple translations by selecting which one you want. There are lots of other features, but I just end up using it to lookup passages.

There are of course a LOT more great sites out there, but the above are what I frequent most often or where I go first. Of course if I'm researching the Catholic viewpoint or stance I hit the catholic sites (Catholicanswers.com is a great site, there's also another I can't remember right now) and if I'm looking into non-christian or psuedo-christian theology I go to their websites too, or at least ones that are generally approved by the bulk of their followers.

For those who struggle with sexual impurity:

http://www.settingcaptivesfree.com

This site offers a free 60 day course (each lesson takes approx 30 minutes), so it's some committment but I have on a good source (by discipler, Joseph, a wise and godly man) that it is helpful. I just got done with the first lesson and it has greatly helped already.

I really like some of the topics on this website, but I want to ask about one. In the course "The Door of Hope" it says:
"Jesus said, 'I am the door'"
(John 10:7).
This 60-Day interactive course will teach you to enjoy a newfound relationship with the Lord and how to find freedom from homosexuality. It is possible, and you can learn how.

What I'm curious about is what they mean by that. I'll start a thread.

Not specifically a "help" site, but there is much help on the site, and more available through the books. My wife and I go to a couple's retreat done by Dr. Berg every fall. His other books are outstanding, and the information on each of the sites is helpful.

Y'know what i'd love to see? a site with Christian stastics, I don't know if one exists but it would make getting them for bible studies and sermons easy.

Y'know like in 200X x% of people report reading their bible according to blah etc.

My wife recently bought me the book as part of my birthday gifts. I have to say I don't always agree with him, but I admit to laughing a good amount.
