You forgot one, but I'm having a tough time figuring out who.

Anyway, there are quite a few that I've noticed on the member roster who either signed up and posted once a few months ago and never came back, or just stopped posting.

Maybe we could establish some sort of membership policy in the Genesis section?

FuntKlakow, thats the other one. looks like its a bot thats registered a lot of places.

i dont mind people posting very rarely, i just dont want the site to get spammed or hacked.

If you don't like it, toss them.

Seriously - there's always a major danger of someone hacking the site and shutting it down. Allspark.com (a Transformers site) has been brought down three times in the past two months.

It's been so long since I registered here..... how does it work? Are you automatically signed up once you register, or do you have to click on the email that is sent out after a few minutes? It seems to me the more steps that are required, the less "spambots" you get signed up. Might be worth changing the process if it is not already that way.

What you could do is add a new step between the registration and the validation e-mail.

The new second step could be a simple radio button with a yes / no question. Set it up so that the validation e-mail won't be sent unless they select the proper answer.

For instance, the quesiton would be "Are you a spam bot?" If they select no, the validation e-mail is sent out. If they select yes or fail to answer, then no e-mail is sent.

you have to confirm the email to activate your account. it will still show you up on the memberlist even if you dont, you just cant post.

all that i have deleted were not activated, which makes me think bot.

not a bad idea, but with my limited knowledge of php, it would be easier for me just to keep tabs on things.

So I take it no luck with preventing the spambots? Either that or you have something against the Hispanic community! I see 4 or 5 new spanish members a day and then they are gone by night time - all to come back again the next day....

I guess Matthew is in charge until Chad gets back. Matt, you should take a look at the last three who joined. No posts. All with spanish names. All on the same day. Looks like spammers to me. Maybe we could set up a forum in the begining that makes you identify yourself before being allowed to stay on the site.

all of these are bots, no doubt. most of them have poker site emails and are never activated. i did have one the other day that had a porn site as their website (unfortunately i found out the hard way :( ) and the user hasd an active account! i also did a google search of that person. seems like she had signed up all over the place.

anyway, looks like itll be a daily job :?

There seem to be a lot of these coming in this week, I've noticed. Delete 'em! :x
